REFLECTIONS ON CERT’S RECENT JACK OF ALL TRADES COURSES
It’s been a busy couple of months here at CERT. Thanks to generous additional funding from Clackmannanshire Council, we were able to re-run our hugely popular Jack of all Trades courses once again.
We ran three new free-of-charge trades-based courses, this time focussing on painting and decorating, carpentry and plasterwork. Aimed at those in Clacks who are currently unemployed, not in education or who are working less than 17.5 hours a week, these new courses formed part of our mission to tackle unemployment and improve economic prospects for individuals across Clackmannanshire.
“These trades courses reflect CERT’s ongoing commitment to supporting the community to thrive,” says Jean Hamilton, CERT’s Chair.
“By providing hands-on experience and fostering confidence, we are empowering individuals to regain their independence and take control of their career paths”. By providing practical, on-the-job training, participants explored potential career paths in areas that remain in high demand within the UK labour market and gain confidence through real-world experience in a supportive learning environment. Our courses also provided practical hands-on experience and comprehensive health and safety training.
They allowed learners to sample a trade without committing to a pathway, enabled them to explore and identify their own skill sets and offered targeted support to help them transition back into employment. The courses also gave participants opportunities to develop a wide range of transferable skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Throughout the course, participants received personalised 121 support from our dedicated team of keyworkers, who guided them through their journey toward re-entering the workforce. But don’t just take our word for it—here’s what our clients have said!
“Superb in every single way...Can't fault any aspect of it, first class!”
“The course was good - the staff were full of information and gave great tips. The course was well worth attending...!”
